Brothers Beer has transformed their Ōrākei Bay Village restaurant, The Barnacle, into a new, more casual-feel eatery – Ōrākei Bay Bistro.
As well as a new look and name, they’ve taken a different approach to the menu, designed by executive chef Sara Simpson (Clooney, The Tasting Shed, Terroir). “What we heard from our customers is that they really wanted a more relaxed bistro environment,” she says. The offering includes some favourites from The Barnacle like the fresh oysters and beef carpaccio, but also brings in some hearty, traditional options like a prime scotch steak with triple-cooked chips, spatchcock chicken, and five-spice brisket. The dessert menu features innovative dishes, such as a roast parsnip crème brulee with maple ice cream and pancetta, alongside the classics.
Wine and cocktail lists have been updated for summer, and of course, there is a huge selection of craft beer, from the neighbouring Brothers Beer bar.
Throughout the month of November, Ōrākei Bay Bistro will be offering a free wine, beer or soft drink on arrival to every diner. Bookings are available at www.obb.co.nz
